This results in the development of severe storms in what is known as the&nbsp;<strong>\"ring of fire\"<\/strong>&nbsp;of the heat dome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These storms can produce:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Damaging winds<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Large hail<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heavy rains<\/strong>&nbsp;which, if repeated over the same areas, can cause&nbsp;<strong>flash flooding<\/strong>especially in regions that have already been affected recently.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The areas with the highest risk at the beginning of the week include the&nbsp;<strong>Midwest<\/strong>the&nbsp;<strong>Tennessee River Valley<\/strong>&nbsp;and parts of the&nbsp;<strong>southeast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the week progresses, the dome will move eastward. This will temporarily reduce thunderstorms in some locations, but will&nbsp;<strong>the heat will continue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Thursday, areas of the&nbsp;<strong>Great Lakes<\/strong>&nbsp;will have thermal sensations in the&nbsp;<strong>90 \u00b0F (32-35 \u00b0C)<\/strong>and already on Friday, the worst of the heat will move towards the&nbsp;<strong>I-95 corridor<\/strong>affecting cities such as&nbsp;<strong>Washington, New York and Boston<\/strong>with highs also in the 90s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a tropical air mass overhead, the wind chill will easily exceed\u00a0<strong>100 \u00b0F (38 \u00b0C)<\/strong>\u00a0in the afternoon.
